At Springback Physical Rehabilitation Ltd, my goal is to help people recover from injuries, manage chronic pain, and improve their overall physical function through hands-on therapy, structured exercise programs, and a brain-based approach to rehabilitation.

My Background

Before becoming a sports therapist, I served in the Royal Marines for a full 22 year career, specialising as a Physical Training Instructor and Exercise Rehabilitation Instructor. The Royal Marines are one of the most physically and mentally demanding military forces in the world. Throughout my service, I developed an in-depth understanding of physical resilience, injury management, and the importance of structured rehabilitation. The discipline, dedication, and problem-solving mindset required in the Marines now shape the way I approach injury recovery and pain management.

How My Military Experience Influences My Approach

The Royal Marines instilled in me three key qualities that I bring into my work every day:

  • Discipline in recovery – Just as physical preparation is essential in the military, consistency and structure are critical for successful rehabilitation. I ensure every client follows a clear, progressive plan tailored to their needs.
  • Commitment to long-term results – In high-pressure environments, quick fixes don’t work—you need sustainable solutions. I apply this principle to rehabilitation by focusing on long-term recovery rather than just short-term symptom relief.
  • Adapting to challenges – In the Marines, every situation demands a flexible approach. No two injuries or clients are the same, so I adapt treatment strategies to ensure each person gets the most effective care.

Why I Started Springback Physical Rehabilitation Ltd

I set up Springback Physical Rehabilitation Ltd to provide a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation that goes beyond just short-term symptom relief. Many people struggle with persistent pain or recurring injuries due to underlying movement issues, muscle imbalances, or poor recovery strategies. My focus is on addressing these root causes through a combination of soft tissue therapy, osteopathic-based treatment, and exercise prescription.

A Brain-Based Approach to Rehabilitation

Pain and movement are controlled by the nervous system, which means effective rehabilitation must take the brain into account. By using a brain-based approach, I focus on:

  • Improving neural control of movement to enhance coordination and reduce compensatory patterns
  • Addressing pain perception to help retrain the nervous system and break chronic pain cycles
  • Enhancing proprioception and motor learning to improve stability, strength, and injury resilience

By integrating this neurological perspective into rehabilitation, I help clients not only recover from injuries but also build long-term resilience and confidence in movement.

My Approach

I work with a wide range of clients, from athletes to office workers and individuals with chronic pain. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual, ensuring that recovery is not only effective but also sustainable. My approach typically involves:

  • Comprehensive assessment of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems
  • Hands-on therapy to reduce pain and improve mobility, working mobilisations and manipulations where deemed appropriate
  • Targeted stretching and strengthening exercises to correct imbalances
  • Performance-based assessments to ensure long-term results
  • Other treatment modalities, such as cupping and instrument assisted soft tissue work where deemed appropriate
